Community

The approach Vertical Mapping Resources takes towards community involvement is delivering an impact of improvement on the communities where we live and work, being focused on the outcome of our efforts, and being driven by our contributions. VMR knows that our business is only as strong as the communities and markets that we serve.

Some recent community outreach projects VMR has been involved with include;

  • In the spring of 2007 Vertical Mapping Resources, Inc. joined forces with the non-profit organization Valley Partnership to aid the development and design of Chandler’s newest Salvation Army facility. VMR donated their services and contributed aerial photography, black and white orthophotography, digital terrain models and planimetrics of the location site. The new facility provides the residents of Chandler, Arizona with food boxes, utility assistance, and clothing services, as well as offers after school programs for children in the community. VMR was happy to contribute to this cause and help improve the community.

  • In the spring of 2008 VMR opened their doors to sixteen Arizona State University graduate students for an educational and informative presentation on Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The students were currently all pursuing their master’s degree of advanced studies in GIS and were eager to learn whatever information VMR had to share. The presentation provided the students with a better understanding of how the VMR team integrates photogrammetry and GIS base mapping on a regular basis. The students were able to see examples of projects VMR has completed and the variety of services they offer. The graduates also left with a sense of the professional atmosphere at VMR.

  • VMR teamed up with Valley Partnership for the second time in the fall of 2008. This time it was to help with the renovation of the Foundation for Blind Children’s facility. VMR provided pro-bono services to aid the plans for the exterior renovation of the facility. The project was initiated in an effort to provide a functional and beneficial learning environment for many visually impaired children of the valley. The plans for improvement included orientation & mobility training, cane walking, adaptive swing sets, a shady glare free play space, as well as room for tactic and sensory interaction. VMR generated a digital map showing cultural and topographic features of the existing landscape to enable architects and engineers to navigate the plans for renovation.  VMR enjoyed working with Valley Partnership once again and looks forward to assisting them on charity projects in the future.

  • VMR and its principals make it a point to consider charitable contributions to as many local organizations as possible. Some of these have recently included; The Boys & Girls Club of Phoenix and Scottsdale, as well as The Southwest Craniofacial Foundation. VMR believes that it is important to be actively involved in our communities. Since its inception in 2001, VMR has been a member of The Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce and has also joined The Chamber of Commerce in Dana Point as well. Since our recent expansion into northern California we look forward to getting involved and contributing to our newest community.
